Footnotes
[The following discrepencies were found at www.baseball-reference,com]

The following has not been listed on the table above:
• 1896 32 John Kimball, 3 teams, 1 league (32-34 .485)
The component teams shown on Kimball's page for 1896 are:
1896 14-12 Roanoke
1896 2-5 Petersburg/Hampton (listed as one entry)
1896 16-17 Petersburg/Hampton, Roanoke (this has its own line on Kimball's records page.
The 16-17 is the total. The 32-34 is adding that figure to the two team totals a second time. On the 1896 Roanoke Magicians webpage, Kimball is shown with a 30-29 W-L record. Again this is 16-17 added to 14-12. (Not listed on the Roanoke page, so the error is compounded. Evidently 1896 has a programming error or a computational error.). The same is true at the Petersburg/Hampton 1896 page, 18-23 as the total shown for Kimball.

The following has not been listed on the table above:
• 1896 32 Otis Stocksdale, 3 teams, 1 league (32-16 .667):
Stocksdale's records show the following W-L records for 1896:
1896 3-5 Petersburg/Hampton
1896 8-1 Richmond
1896 16-8 Petersburg/Hampton, Norfolk, Richmond
1896 5-2 Norfolk
I believe the 32 is an error. The three teams are listed twice. The true record should be 16-8. The problem is compounded further in the online records. Stocksdale's W-L record as shown for the Richmond Bluebirds on their stats page for 1896, is shown as 24-9.
On the 1896 Norfolk Braves page Stocksdale is shown with a 21-10 Norfolk record. Petersburg Farmers/Hampton Clamdiggers is one page for 1896. Otis Stocksdale is shown as having a 19-13 record for them. 16-8 added to 3-5 equals 19-13. There was a computing error made. Thus this is not listed.

The following is also not listed above:
• 1896 30 Tully Sparks, 2 teams, 1 league (Southern Association) (30-34 .469).
This one has the same problem, and, unlike the above two, has no Virginia League connection.
Listed on Sparks' web page is-
1896 10-11 Birmingham
1896 5-6 Mobile
1896 15-17 Birmingham, Mobile.
Again, his season total was 15-17, and the 30-34 is just it being added to itself. Again, go to each team's 1896 page and the totals shown for sparks are his real total for that teasm (as shown on his records page), added to 15-17. Thus it is not listed. The three above are spurious computational errors

 Iron Man Bloomfield
The following record is incorrect:
• 1909 42 Billy Bloomfield Oakland Commuters (California League) (42-25 W-L record)
On the www.baseball-reference.com page for Bloomfield, there are the following two lines:
1909 11-8  Oakland CALL (CALL for California League)
1909 31-17 Oakland CALL
Both lines for the same team. Go to the Commuters' 1909 listing and it reads 42-25, the two lines on Bloomfield's page. It is impossible to know what the two lines mean.
There was also an Oakland Oaks PCL team in 1909. I have listed the 31-17. Not the 42-25.
If there was an 11-8 record in 1909, it awaits further study. I only list the 31. Why would the same team have two entries?
º The explanation is that this was an Outlaw league and this was for a split season. Bloomfield pitched all but 5 of the team's 2nd half games. So I am listing the 42 wins, under advisement.
August 19, 1909 Oakland Tribune headline reading: Pitcher Bloomfield 'Dubbed' Iron Man of the State League.
