  Hofstra opened on September 23, 1935 on the former 15-acre estate of Mrs. William S. Hofstra, and was known as the Nassau College branch of New York University.

Text: With a winning percentage to show for their efforts, these young women represented Hofstra college on the basketball court during the past season. They comprised the first team in the history of the institution and met a number of well known collegiate rivals. Left to right---Grace O'Brien, Helen Mroczkowska, Paula Eckhold, Louis Edelman, Janet Runcie, Gloria Hage, Doris Biedermaan, Josephine Cheslack, Elizabeth Hynes, Margaret Petry and Gertrude Runcie.
