Article from Brooklyn Daily Eagle, November 29, 1890 titled “BIG L TOAD TRAFFIC” “The Kings county elevated road did the biggest day's work in its history Thursday anont the great foot ball game at Eastern park. Manager Goundie said yesterday 81,000 passengers were carried, 22,000 of whom were loaded from the Eastern Park station and the temporary station put up for the day just beyond it. The road, Mr. Goundie says, had thirty trains in service, everything that was available. Fifteen of these, made up of five cars each, were express trains and they left the bridge station to go uptown every five minutes during the early part of the afternoon. The other fifteen minutes during the early part of the afternoon. The other fifteen trains were of four cars each.

•Eastern Park, Van Sinderen & Pitkin Avenues, East New York, City of Brooklyn.
•1890-Home of the major league baseball Players League Brooklyn Wonders.
•1891-1897-Home of the (baseball) National League Brooklyn team.
•This team was known as the “Bridegrooms” and the “Superbas” at this time.
•The Coney Island & Brooklyn Railway, the first electric streetcar route (converted from horse cars 1890) passed near Eastern Park; Other electrified lines ran on nearby Liberty Ave., Fulton Ave., Jamaica Ave and Rockaway Parkway. The Jamaica & Brooklyn Road Company, a heavy suburban traction line began 1889. Its terminal was on Jamaica Plank Road (Avenue), just north of the ballpark. The Els all converged at a junction there, the Long Island Railroad Manhattan Beach division brought special trains to the ballpark. Within years, East New York became a transit hub.
  Fans to games at Eastern Park had to dodge many a trolley, giving the baseball team its last and most lasting name of “Dodgers”!!
•The site has been occupied since 1910 by a massive and now long closed (1964) LIRR power plant on the Bay Ridge Division/New York Connecting Railroad.
