71 Straight Wins, 1923-1925 The (Nassau) Daily Review, March 9, 1925

¥ The first womens' game played at Smith College, 1892

¥ Women (or “girls”) played a different game of basketball at the dawn of the game.

¥ The three-court game: The playing floor was divided in three, each team had players in each section; these players could only in those sections. Only a couple could score.

¥ In 1914 the rules change, the two-court game was now what women were allowed to play. Five; then six players a side, restricted to their zones of play.

¥ This lasted in amateur women's basketball until 1970.

¥ Rule change allows schools to try the Regulation 5 on 5 game, 1966-67

¥ The 1st full college season & championship tournament under regulation rules, 1970-71

¥ The last state to abandon High School 6-woman basketball was Indiana, 1993-94
