• Beginning in 1960, the New York Football Giants began playing a preseason charity exhibition game at the Yale Bowl in New Haven, Connecticut. From 1965, it was held annually. | |
• From 1965 through 1974, it was held annually. Sometimes it was referred to as the Mayor's Bowl | |
• The August 17, 1969 game was an interleague exhibition game prior to the AFL and NFL officially merger. | |
• Yankee Stadium, the Giants' home since 1956 was scheduled to be refurbished. A new stadium would be built in the swamps of New Jersey. In 1973, the Giants played one exhibition game and two regular season home games at Yankee Stadium, and then the remaining 5 home games at the Yale Bowl in New Haven. The Giants entire 1974 home schedule was also played at the Yale Bowl. | |
• In 1975, the Giants played home games at Shea Stadium, and in 1976 moved into the new Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands. | |
• One final Giants-Jets exhibition game was played at the Yale Bowl in 1975. |
